Hey all!
I am really excited to show off this shoot I did this summer and tell you a little more in depth of the process.
Iām feeling so grateful to have clients that open their hearts to me!! My client Lindsey is a fitness competitor, and before her first competition she wanted photos commemorating how much work she's done. I am not a natural gym rat so I learned a LOT on this shoot about the human body which was a great bonus.
Lindsey is incredible, honestly I got a lump in my throat while writing this, learning about her journey and why she decided to start fitness competitions. Women go through SO MUCH and yet remain so beautifully capable of such incredible things, the resilience in one single person can build galaxies, I swear.
We started this shoot at my home studio and captured some really beautiful high-contrast images in front of a black backdrop, and then headed out to the eastern Washington desert to sweat our faces off and kick some photoshoot ass! We had created a mood board and knew that we wanted both indoor and outdoor photos. The simple black backdrop and lighting made for a dramatic look, and we even experimented with canola oil to make her muscles glisten! It was a lot of fun trying out the different outfits, and learning about the official fitness poses.
And then we hit the road! When we were planning the shoot, we had the idea to do it in a desert-type outdoor location, and I knew that the Beverly Dunes near Vantage in Washington were the perfect backdrop. It required a bit of driving, but we had plenty to chat about on the way. The air conditioner in the car only worked halfway, and when I was shooting in the dunes I was having trouble focusing my camera because of the sweat dripping into my eyes. Lindsey was handling the heat and modeling like a true champion, of course... but omg. Look at the end result!! You never know what is on the other side of a little discomfort. šŖš
Thank you Lindsey for sharing your story with me and allowing me to capture your beauty. Can't wait for the next one š„°š„°š„°
